Visionary Grind Arts and Hardy & Nance Studios are proud to present “Black Is. – A Reintroduction of Culture” art show, curated by Drék Davis. Featuring Black artists and spoken word poets, this exhibition is a celebration of Black creativity and experience. “Black Is.” will enlighten those in attendance by providing a peek into a world that embodies the beauty, anguish, and brilliance of Blackness. It is an opportunity for artists to reintroduce Black culture to audiences in a way that strays from outdated negative stereotypes, uninformed opinion, and individual bias. Any and all lovers of art and poetry are welcome to attend the event. Call for entry is open to Black artists and poets of all calibers who live in the Houston area.

THEME: Artwork and poetry must be representative of Black culture, how you identify with your Blackness, and/or how you wish to reintroduce Blackness to the world in 2021. All 2D & 3D media, and genres of art accepted.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:59pm. Please note that this is a curated show. Some submitted artwork and poetry may not be chosen.
ENTRY FEE: $10.00 fee for each accepted piece, due at drop off—May 20, 2021. This fee will be utilized to fund show overhead. There is NO fee to submit work for consideration. Accepted spoken word poems do not require an entry fee for performance.
