I am a visual artist and art educator living in Houston, Texas. I have been creating for as long as I can remember and fell in love with painting at a very young age. I take inspiration from everything around me, especially nature, consciousness, and the subjectivity of experience. I engage with these themes through an intuitive visual and tactile approach to painting that often involves mixed media and even photography and video. My abstractions reference geological, biological, and figural forms. My synesthesia and interest in phenomenology also inform my work. I earned my M.F.A. from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2017 and while in graduate school I expanded my studio practice beyond traditional drawing and painting media to incorporate new materials and methods. Going forward I am interested in pushing the boundaries of painting and further exploring the use of video and multi-sensory approaches in my practice.
